I recently bought a 1985 O'Day 192. The boat appears to have gelcoat blisters on the hull below the water line. I'd say they are about 3/8" in diameter and maybe 1/16" high. Has anyone else had the same problem? Is this seriuos, or should I just forget about it and go sailing? I've tried to get info from the previous owner but he didn't have it long and wasn't aware of the blisters. Any opinions or suggestions would be appreciated.

I wouldn't worry too much

Hi timohara - Given your description of the blister situation, I'd keep an eye on them but go sailing and not worry too much. Blisters that are very deep should probably be ground out, dried and filled with epoxy (sometimes an entiyre hull peel is warranted), but I'll bet you don't have anything to worry about. Certainly not structural... Best, Trevor
