Oday 19 Quincy Il
New to the group, hoping to get some help in finding my first Oday 19. I've taken the ASA 101,103 &104 classes, so I'm ready to make the next step.
Not looking for a project boat (I'm guessing all boats are some what of a project) but something iI can get in the water right away. Theres not many places to sail close to where I live so I'll need a reliable trailer also. Any tips, advice or locations of an Oday 19 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Consider looking at the Shock Santana 21 thru 27, the swing keel allows ease of trailering

Victor,
I am a relatively new owner of an O'day mariner 19. They are beautiful boats and their class association is very active and the people are amazingly helpful and welcoming. Here's the address: http://www.usmariner.org/
There seem to be alot of mariners on the East coast from upstate NY and New England to Florida on both coast's. Craigslist usually has a few and Texas trailer sailing Web sites.
Most used mariners go from about $1000 for a "protect" boat (what I bought) to $3000-$10,000 ready to sail.
Stuart Marine out of Rockland Me. Builds them still. http://www.stuartmarine.com/
You will be happy with one. They have a cabin that sleeps 2-4 people (called 2+2) and the largest cockpit of their size.
Good luck. I'll check out the associations classifieds when I get a chance but those guys don't let those boats sit around long.

I've never seen an O'Day 19, but looking at sailboatdata.com, it appears to be significantly different than the Mariner. Just a heads-ups if you are set on buying an O'Day 19.

I don't know about the O'Day 19 owners association, but the US Mariner Association is a resource that is worth paying an extra $1000 over a boat with an inactive association, all else being equal. Sorry, mine is not for sale.

There are two mariners for sale that the association is discussing on ebay but one looks like a real project boat and the other is probably not even available anymore. Like I said, mariner owners are in love with their boats and don't let good ones sit around for long. I only found mine by chance one the roadside and didn't even know whay I was buying. I'm glad I did but it. Check Craigslist. Most are offered with a trailer so you can look a little farther afield of you are interested in a mariner.
Here's an add about a month old for the Jersey Shore Craigslist: https://southjersey.craigslist.org/boa/d/1976-classic-oday-mariner-19/6317568562.html
