O'Day 12 info needed

I have recently purchased my third O'Day. This time its the O'Day 12. Hull #560, sail number 311. (I have downsized from the DaySailer and the Javelin.) The hull, spars, and sail are in good condition. Hull is filthy from years of neglect. But the sail is crisp and the spars straight. I need a sales brochure or a spec sheet. All the wood parts and all running rigging need to be replaced. Also, I need info re: the rear seats separating from the floor (inside of hull). Was this a common problem and if so what has been done by others to fix it. Appreciate any help on this.

Oday 12

I too have just acquired an Oday 12, hull 131, sail 181. Nice shape for the years. I have also noted the slight cracking/separation of the seats at the deck and a bit of seepage for a few days after a rain/bailout. Haven't done anything about it as it doesn't seem to be an issue for my type of usage. I suspect it is common to the design due to hull flex and rigidity of the seat. For the brochure I found it along with good photos at Iheartodays.

Thanx for the info. The site you suggested is good. My boat is the same color scheme as the one in the photos.

I cut out holes for 5" inspection ports in the tops of the seats. Then removed the foam. Washed rinsed and air dried the interior and tomorrow I will flip it upside down and apply 3m 5200 to the bottom of the seats and weight the bottom to set it. I will cut noodles (the water toys) to fit through the inspection ports and fill the seats with them. Leaving room for some stowable gear, lunch, binoculars, camera, etc. I will also make a retractible rudder. And I may cut out the centerboard trunk seal it and then use leeboards instead. Such fun, messing around with small sailboats.

Wow such ambition! Sounds like a plan that'll work out fine. I like the idea of using the noodles. Why the leeboards? I got mine out for a sail and it is a sweet little sailer that moves with the lightest breeze. Mine has been modified with an uphaul for the sail and a kickup rudder. The mahogany dagger board is fine for the lake I'm on. Nice to be back to the simple joys of sailing. I spent a number of years getting my kicks windsurfing in the 80's and 90's but no longer have the same opportunities for those beaches, or the same inclination to get my ass kicked. This little 12 suits me fine right now.....of course if it was just a little bigger....
