O'Day 12 Brighthwork

Good afternoon. I found your very informative website through Google and I am pleased to have found it. I am a new O'Day owner. I received as a gift what my benefactor calls an O'Day "12." That appears to be the model described on the plate inside the stern. I am new to sailing, so I humbly plead my ingorance. With that caveat, I have a question: the brightwork for the boat is in shambles. My benefactor stored the brightwork in his barn and termiites have decimated it, including the tiller. I write with the hope that perhaps pattern plans for the brightwork exist? I would also be much obliged to know how I might find a tiller without having to fashion a new one. I shall be grateful for the help that anyone might give me. I thank you. David Opperman

i know that the marine consignment store here in RI has entire rows full of second hand tillers and such. perhaps there is one near you?also, consider going on line to barnes and noble and order a book of plans from them.good huntingbob

Bob, I thank you very much for responding. I am much obliged to you, and I would be further so if you would please tell me the name of the marine consignment store there is Rhode Island. I did not consider that Barnes & Noble would have such plans, but I shall certainly take your advice and look to see. Again, I thank you. David

Call D&R Marine

If all else fails (and even if it doesn't!) A call to Rudy at D&R Marine is worth it! Rudy was the Parts Dept. Manager for O'Day (1973-89) and now runs a great little (one-man shop) parts supply store in Assonet, Ma. He has great knowledge and is a source for all parts. He has a web-site or you can call (508) 644-3001, I'd call anyway....he can be a bit slow answering e-mail.
