My Oceanis 361 2000(Ex. Moorings) is equiped with a small holding tank - approx. 10 gal. that I would like to replace by a larger one. Does anyone know if a refit tank is available either from Beneteau of an after market retailer. And since I would like not to have to relocate the tank, would such a replacement thank fit within the original location behing de head?

Should be possible

I had a 2003 361 (non moorings) and I'm almost positive it had a ~25 gallon tank. If that's the case then you should be able to get that tank directly from Beneteau parts dept. That being said, I can't imagine why Moorings would use a smaller tank than would fit in the alloted space.

Small holding tank

The holding tank that comes on the 361 holds just 13 Gal and I don't think there is much room in its current location to install a larger one. The only viable alternative is to install a second tank below the port side lazarette, if your boat does not have a second aft cabin, or below the port side bed if it does. For my current usage, mostly on weekends, I have managed by optimizing flushing techniques and pumping out frequently. However, during a recent cruise of the New England Islands with the Blue Water Saling Club folks we got into trouble in Block Island. Following a cocktails gathering at our boat that included over 20 people (it was tight) the tank filled up!!!. This was not a pretty site, considering that we realized our predicament after the pumpout was closed and we had to wait til the next day. I think that in the future adding a second tank will be in order, certainly before we head south to live aboard. Has any body done it??

I replaced a small holding tank in my 390 a couple of years ago with one from Ronco Plastics. I measured the space I had (under the v-berth) and got the largest tank I could fit in there. They will put the inlet and outlets anywhere you want, and I added an inspection port just in case. It is still working great. We use KO and CP and have no stink at all. I also replaced all the hoses with the SeaLand ones at the time.
