Has anyone ever install these? Do you need the liners? I measured the two overhead hatches at 13" x 18", and 20" x 20" for my 1979 37C. I failed to look up the hatch manufacturer - does anyone know who made them (are they Bomars)??? Thanks for your input

Bomar's

I've been looking at installing the Oceanair SFSS-1029 on my midship hatch. All the hatchs on my 1981 37c are Bomars as are all the other 37c's I've seen. Not going to use the liner on mine as I dont't think its needed. Read an article of a guy installing one with the liner and said the liner is a pain to make it look right. Hatchs on my boat are: Forward: Bomar #155, 20"x20" Midship: Bomar #139, 12.5"x17.5" Aft: Bomar #130, 10"x10" Hope this helps.

Installation suggestion for seamans did not work

Those pictures in the above link did not work out. The H356 has a soft liner which made installation a bit different. Love the windows.... Try this link for the trials and sweat of installation. http://www.ayesail.net/sailing/SailboatMods/H356Mods/sky_screen_window_for_hatches.htm Jim S/V Java

Used them on my H'31.

Jim: I installed them on my H'31. The coach roof is slightly curved. I just placed some door/ window insulation in the void to keep the big ones out. If the headliner (hard surface) is flat they are very easy to install. We also had to deal with a forward hatch that had arms that were lower than the headliner. I used some composite/plastic material for a spacer for that one. They really do keep the bugs out, but as with any screen, they also restrict airflow too. Overall they are an excellent addition. They also have the ability to restrict the airflow and mask out the sunlite if you want to sleep a little later in the A.M.
