I bought a 1994 Suzuki 6 HP outboard. Its never been in the water. Do I need to worry about the impeller?

I would change the engine oil, the impeller, and the bottom unit oil and get some advice about the bottom unit seals as well.

since the impeller has not been used and has been sitting in the same position for years - it is no longer flexible and is "frozen" in one position. It will not pump water as expected and the engine will overheat. If you turn on the engine in this condition the impeller is sure to disintegrate and its broken pieces will be lodged in crevices and restrict water flow. It will become a repair nightmare. Replace it now and every 2 years.

As a former dealer and small engine repairman, the advice given above particualy about the impellers is a must. If you are not able to, I suggest you get a Suzuki repairman to do that as there are tricks getting the splines to realign when you pot the lower housing back if that is the case with that engine.

Also, buy straight gas without ethanol but if not, do add the additive to help combat that issue and let the gas run out of the carburetor each time. If using in salt and brackish water, flush out the engine with fresh water on a regular basis.

I replaced the impeller but now I don't get a water peeing out of discharge hole. Im sure I have the new one in the same direction as old one. Any ideas?

I just had the same problem with my Honda 9.9. The problem was that the two tubes were not lined up properly. Pulled the bottom off re alined tubes problem fixed. Give it a try.
