Bow Pulpits
Hi Conway; The bow pulpit on the Oday 22 has (4) four mounting flanges. Two aft, two forward. The forward flanges are close to the boat's stem, and are bolted through the deck forward of the cabin liner. To access them you need to lie flat on your back with your head facing forward on the boat. Then scrunch as far forward into the narrow end of the vee-berth as you can (remember to have your tools with you!)reaching over your head into that little triangular niche at the bow of the boat. Up above there you'll see the forward mounting bolts for the bow rail. The aft bolts are easier to see and get to.The bolts are run through a circular fiberglass disc acting as a thrust washer. Oday had a ton of these things put on my 1979 boat for everything, and they act as a backing plates I suppose.Make sure you don't tighten bolts agains the raw fiberglass if you can - use washers liberally!Rudy and or the Chandlery would be the best place to get a bow rail.Good luck,Stu"Karakahl"1979 O'Day 22 CBCenterport
