O Day 23 thru hulls

I am new to sailing and I just bought an Anniversary Edition O Day 23. I have read allot about thru hulls and I am going to replace the original plastic ones for the sink drain and the cockpit drain with bronze. Neither one has a sea cock. They are both above the water line. Should sea cocks be installed on these lines? Part of me says not to worry about it, since they have been this way since it was built.

I haven't seen much on adding sea cocks to the above water line sink drains and cockpit drains.
Many have posted threads on changing out the original gate valves on the under water galley sink drains but I don't remember seeing many issues with the above water drains.

I did have ice break a cockpit through hull on the cockpit side of the drain but that was over winter on the hard.

I'm not worrying about my above water line through hulls. Your boat, your choice.
