*o Bent lower shroud T-connector

Bent lower shroud T-connector at the mast. Back when I bought the boat Bud told me I would bend these and now I have. I took down the mast to look at it. It is bent real good. It is also a swage(sp) connection. How do I replace it?HelpWhile we are talking about these permanent connections. How do I get my life lines shortened? I added stern rail seats. I would like my life lines to at the seat now. It would also be nice to add gates for easy access.HelpRussell

Time to Visit West Marine

They have a doit yourself set up to do your lifelines. Mark the lifeline where it meets the bail on your stern rail seat and take the lifeline in. They will help you get it right but are not supposed to do it for you. I just addeda bimmini to mine and now I wish I had done my gates differently. I just shortened the lifelines and added the hooks to the end. Now with the bimmini the hooks are in the way. (Jonathan you reading this?) Now I am planing on putting the hook on the stantion end rather than the stern rail seat end. If you have or are plkanning on a bimmini that is somthing to consider.Sounds like you are going to need a new shroud line. When you bend the bottom one you can replace the t bolt but the upper one I am not sure there is enough adjustment to cut off the fitting and install a new one. Crazy Dave will tell us for sure.

Rick has it right

I conferred with Rick many times regarding stern rail seats since I just installed them on my 23.5. If your shroud is bent there may not be enough cable left to cut and put a new end on. Do you have the Owners Manual for the 23.5? It specifies exact dimensions and ends of ALL the rigging. If you need a copy of that page let me know and I can fax it to you. Someone on the forum puts palstic cable tie-wraps on each side of the turn buckle on the chainplate to make it stand up all the time. You definitely have to watch those little b*astards or they will bend in a heart beat. Once they are bent there is no straightening them out. Does anyone know of a good rigging shop that does mail order?
