having to replace our refrigeration, looking for comments regarding the two systems and pros and cons of a L-shaped evaporator vs. box shaped one. my refrigerator is approx. 6 cu.ft., on a 1996 hunter 37.5, thanks for your help.

They are both good units but I find that Alder Barbour parts are more readily available. If you really want a nice system buy a Sea frost engine driven holding plate system. 20-25 minutes of run time freezes the plate & keeps my fridge cold for up to 12 hours with no battery drain..

we are looking to replace also
as our control board and compressor blew......the plate systems seam to be the "best" way to go, as they drain less electricity from the battery bank and are driven off the engine, This syetem basicly "cools" the plate (that contains a gel ike the freezer blocks you pack in a cooler) in the box and that slowly and continually radiates coolness in the box. ,,but Im looking at cost also,,,so we might go with the direct replacement ,The main drawback with this system is that it recycles 50% of the time,,,so it does have an effect on your battery bank and will have to be constantly monitored. The best price I have found is on the attached link..... if anyone has found it less expensive please let me know.

I have a Norcold...
...L-shaped evaporator in my '88 Legend 37. It doesn't provide a freezer, but it works well. I keep a woolen blanket on the cover when not in it, in order to save energy. If you store frozen stuff against the evaporator, it will stay frozen a few days that way.
