O-23 Wiring

I'm trying to make sense of the wiring on my O-23. The previous owner(s) have made modifications that resemble my first attempt at 15 to integrate an 8-track player in my first car. I digress. What I need help with is this - having a mirad of wires hooked to the battery is not only confusing, but inefficient. Can anyone supply a wiring diagram for the boat? And where do the wires for the mast light, and foward nav lights pass in the cabin? I'd like to come off the battery with one set of wires and put a terminal block in the cabin (maybe behind the switch panel) and run the remainder of the wiring from there. Any suggestions or comments?Thanks, Ric

I am in the same predicament with our 1980 Oday23. A mess of various cables going to bettery terminals. I am doing by best to trace things out for the time being- somehow, everything is working except the mast light. mast light

my mast light wires come thru the top deck into the fiberglass molded piece that holds the port bulkhead. it runs in the fiberglass headliner down to where the headliner meets the hull. it runs to the back of the cabin over to the panel.i found this out when i cut throught the molded fiberglass area that the bulk head is screwed to to repair dryrot under the mast footing.

my mast light (78 model) never worked since I've had my boat. (7-8 years) Wiring was a mess also. Previous owner installed new elec. panel so am not familiar how stock panel looked. As far as wiring, some details to add to previous posts. Bow, interior, and mast wires run between interior liner and deck, on port side. I was able to feel them with my finger tips at some points along there run(fabric liner removed)only 4-6" from edge of liner. Mast wires change route 1-2 feet before bulkhead, almost a straight route to mast. My mast wires were blk/wht, interior light wires were yellow/white. I say were, as I just finished installing a 99% new electrical system. I was at the same point, trying to make sense of the mess. Hope you don't have to run new wires, it's a pain.
