I recently found rust on four bolts and nuts on the aft berth on my cat. 30. These four bolts seems to be holding the edson steering wheel, but can't really tell for sure.... I unscrew one to clean the corrosion and that's when the dripping water began.... Has anybody come across this problem ??? Thanks.

Plugged steering quadrant drain

I have not had that exact problem but it is likely that you have a plugged drain hose in the steering quadrant. Unscrew and lift off the cover plate aft of the pedestal and see if it has water in it. The drain is at the aft end a tthe bottom of each corner. They easily fill with sand and then do not drain properly allowing the water to go where it is not supposed to. Clean with a coat hanger and flush with a hose. Sand collects in the drain hose as it has a slight bend down before exiting the stern. David Four Feathers
