Replacing due to end of life or poor reliability? Consider replacing in-kind (1.9 cf) or another one that will fit the cut out dimensions of 20.625" H x 15.625" W x 17.75" D and running amps of 4.4 amps.
A replacement in-kind costs ~$1065 (from Sure Marine). A 1.7 cf Norcold costs ~$1000 and fits your dimensions. Other manufacturers like Dometic (have one on my rv), Isotherm, Raritan and U-line (had one on my power boat) will likely have one that will fit your dimensions.

All of the 12v conversions use the same basic parts and will a torch, sliver solder and basic fittings you can replace only the parts that failed. I got an AB cold machine and it has Isotherm evaporator and an electronic thermostat I got from Amazon for $18. I bought an HVAC vacuum pump at Harbor Freight for $100 but you can also rent them from many auto-parts stores. You do not need gauges to charge the system. Just slowly add gas until the evaporator frosts 3/4 down to the bottom.

I bought one of the NovaKool freezers during the Seattle Boat Show.
Installed nicely.
I set it and the unit maintain 36 degrees. Very stingy on battery. Silent in operation. Auto switch AC/DC.

just so I understand: u set it to 36F and use it as a refrigerator (vs a freezer)? Thanks
