Wow. I should be so imfamous as Tho52mas to generate a string in excess of 100 replies, but this is much more straight forward.

My stern rail on my Pearson P-31 was scrunched two years ago. Interim repair is less that eye candy.

Any recommendations, suggestions, or leads on a rail maker who can travel to Quantico or the Washington Sailing Marina are welcomed.

why not remove the rear stanchions and bent stern rail, and take them to a shop? if your rear rail is stainless tubing, any decent boat awning manufacturer or boatyard can cut you the new tubing pieces to size. then reinstall the stanchions...you need to know the OD outer diameter of your s s tubing...and the length and curvature of the upper adn lower pieces...

in my great lakes neighborhood if you were waiting in the height of boating season for someone to come by your boat, it would be a VERRRRRYYYYYYYY long wait and a VERRRRYYYY large bill...

Thanks for the suggestion. We did take the bent rail to a "highly recommended" and supposedly SH rail person. The reult, as I noted, is less that eye candy. And yes, I will never recommend that rail maker to a friend.

In the Deltaville VA region there are rail makers who visit the Marinas. I am told, their work is "reasonable" for whatever that might be worth. Unfortunately, they are quite a ways away.

In the mean time, I am thinking of taking zink tubes and fittings, and lashing up a replacement model of the rail. In doing that, maybe I can make a port or starboard seat area, much like the newer, very sweet sailing, catalinas have.

Yes, that is to say, the P-31 bench is too low to sit on and if raised on seat cushions, from the aft center position, one cannot judge the sail trim. So maybe a revised starn rail design will make my P-31 reach is full potential.

Winkfish; I am surprised that you did not note how the spray from my propeller was shooting out of the water's surface and that this would beg a question of right of way since I may have been under power and perhaps he was sailing.

Bob, You can just come sailing with me any time. I don't have a fast boat, but it is a nice boat; and it has great stern rail seats with cushions.
