Hi Peggy,Sorry to come up on your “lavatorial” forum but I do not have a personal ID for you.Just read the news on your Rendezvous and am delighted it was such a success.Looking at the photos I see that you are on the Racing Committee, but I do not know who else is.I am the Commodore of the Legend Owners Association here in the UK and also the Handicapper for our fleet on the Solent. We hold one race a year and this is only a “fun” race, but,as you well know, skippers and crews get pretty intense over such matters as handicaps and I am running scared! I am in charge of the organising of our Rendezvous and the event begins this coming Friday afternoon. We have quite a number of boats, but few race regularly if at all, so there are no handicap numbers. I have looked into the US PHRF listings but find several of the more recent Hunter models are not included. Our fleet is young so most of our models are fairly new, i.e. the type number ends in a zero.I have some experience in sailboat handicapping and also have a formula of many years standing, but the relationship between the backstayless B & R rigged boats and the earlier 150% genoa and small roach mainsail boats is causing unexpected effects, i.e. the older boats can look quicker despite the greater sail areas claimed for the newer models. I have all the dimensions of the boats but would really appreciate a list of the handicaps which you allocated to your race.If you are not the person who deals with these matters I wonder if you would be so kind as to re-direct this message to the appropriate one. Thanks in advance and please say hi to Laura Dent and the rest of your crew .Kind regards,Don Alexander - donalex@compuserve.com
