Last night, our local weather forecasters noted that the sun expelled a large solar flare yesterday and speculated that this weekend could be an opportunity to see the Northern Lights - Aurora Borealis as far south as here in Cleveland, or even further south. I've seen them twice - once while sailing, once while looking out from our neighborhood bluff over Lake Erie. The reports seemed to say Saturday through Monday would be the best nights. Keep a lookout to the North this weekend - we may be getting an extra treat!
