I have a 6KW Northern Lights gen that shuts down after 5 - 10 mins of running my 2 AC units. I've seen from previous posts that people have had this problem caused by clogged raw water strainers. My problem is not with the water intake. My strainer is clean, the unit is pumping plenty of water and the temps are normal. I've changed the fuel filters. Any suggestions?

I just notice Phillip that the post belong to you. And to think your only 10 feet from my boat. Now that I know "who" the real answer is the boat is too big for the Northern Light.
No, it seems to only happen with a heavy load. I've run it to charge the batteries and it runs fine.
Try following the fuel supply down the line. It's running on a light load, but a heavy load makes it shut down. Wouldn't a heavier load draw more fuel? If there's a partial blckage, the heavier draw of fuel might not be getting through. That happened on a diesel engine we had on a charter boat once. At low revs, it was fine. At high revs, it killed. Small piece of seaweed in the fuel intake. Cleared it, ran fine.
Thanks, this past weekend ,it shut down with no load. I'm begining to think there is something in the fuel line.

When my Panda started giving me problems starting I went crazy checking everything and than I called Panda in Florida and they very helpful with getting running again.
It was one of 2 relays and he told me to switch the relays both the same and it started rightup.
But if you think it's the fuel try a separate fuel tank from a jug of fuel but maybe you sucked in some dirth so try blowing or cleaning the fuel system.
Also does it always shut down the same amount of time running,check the impeller it might look good but maybe warn or something.

Now in NY in my Motor home and my H-36 is in Florida.

It does seem to shut down roughly in about the same amount of time. I'll check the impeller, but it doesn't have hardly 50 hrs on it. I'll try blowing the fuel lines next time I'm at the boat. I just had it pulled for a new bottom. It's only 102 degrees today.I'd rather work on it when the AC is on.

The hours does not mean any thing for the impeller,the first year I had my boat in NY and would use the Gen I would need to change my Gen impeller too often because for some reason I was getting stuff in the strainer pretty often and before you know it it would cut down on the water cooling and shut down more than it should and weared down the impeller I think I had to change the impeller 2 times in one NY season,I have not changed the impeller since in Florida since 2008 and use it alot more in Florida than when in NY.
