North U
A couple of years ago, my sailing partner and I took the Offshore Sailing/North U performance week racing class at Captiva Island. It was 6 days on the water (back then) on Colgate 26's. Had just a wonderful time and learned more in that week than years of local sailing. The NorthU and Offshore instructors were great, the multimedia CD's that North U makes are well worth the money, also found the Trim and Tactic Books a valuable reference. 5 days were with an instructor on board, the 6th day we had our own regatta (with 4 boats and guys and girls from all over the country). A group of old Melges racers kicked our butts. 2nd place overall could have been any one of the other three boats, depending on the final race. I liked the format, we had class in the morning, a morning sailing sesson, lunch, afternoon class, afternoon sailing sesson, and then a wrap-up each evening. The North guy would videotape each sesson which we all watched together after each sailing session, there was no where to hide! The instructors told us we did about 2 years of club racing in one week!! Needless to say, we were tired puppies every night. But a great, great time, and I would do it again.Check out the CD's that North sells, they have lots of multimedia, videos, etc. They just updated the trim or tactics one, I think. Hopes this helps you, Mike
