I am polling this forum and the sailnet list to see if there is any interest in a rendezvous this comming spring or summer. Some possible locations might be Barnegat Bay NJ, Cape May NJ, or Long Island Sound. I encourage anyone interested to contact me at sailbode@gis.net However, we can discuss options etc. on this forum. Don Bodemann

Would love to see that happen

I own a Hunter 37C and would be very interested. Would prefer Long Island Sound or perhaps Rhode Island but willing to go to Cape may. Keep us informed of your progress. If it happens I can help to get the word out.

Good idea

Think of the photo ops!!!! LOL I'll be there if you only let me know where and when– and what the cocktails will be like! Speaking of which, do not rule out Penn's Landing in Philadelphia where there's a nice inner harbour and plenty of dock/barge space for hire for those cocktail-seeking sociable talkitive types like me! I MAY (not guaranteed) be speaking to the maritime museum there about exhibiting some ORIGINALS of my dad's work in museum-calibre format in the foreseeable future. This is home territory for him and the Phila museum ought to be informed/involved in his work and legacies. Likewise nearby Riverton Yacht Club would almost definitely be interested in hosting a sail-in but though they are picturesque and appropo they have little room. Otherwise I have thought of Sea Bright or the inner Raritan Bay where plenty of Hunters raced or called home in the 70s. Let's use these boards to explore and advertise plans. JC II JComet@aol.com

Rendezvous

Don, Count me in, schedule permitting. I have a slight preference for Long Island Sound, since I'm there, but obviously any of these places are in easy striking, er, sailing distance. Thanks for getting the ball started on this. Cheers, John Reid Cheese 'n Crackers john.patti.reid@juno.com

I'm game

Count me in! I attended the Rendezvous at Liberty Landing two summers ago and had a great time. I am also partialo to LI Sound. There are plenty of great harbors here Like Oyster Bay, Huntington Harbor or LLoyd Harbor. Not to speak of Manhasset Bay.

How about a South East version as well..

While all you guys up north are shoveling snow, how about considering a winter and summer rendezvous! We don't really have any winter limitations on sailing in Florida and although many of our northern friends have thier boats hauled for the winter, perhaps a seminar type schedule with the Honorable Mr. Cherubini II and Hunter, as well as knowledgeable owners could provide significant data exchange. This is done by the Seven Seas Cruising Assosiation in Florida each year with great success. Vendors would be probably be willing to participate should the numbers be enough. I don't know what the number of participants would be, but it would be interesting to find out. We could also have a regatta where local boats select crews and combine experience as well as get the snowed in folks on the water during the winter months. I'm sure that temperatures in the 60's and 70's, brisk winds and great accomodations in the Central Florida area would make a tremendous getaway for some. Just a thought! Barnegat Bay: Central Location

Count me in for Barnegat Bay. Could that be because it's just down the river from my front door? It's also a spot convenient to people from both the Chesapeake and L. I. Sound. It's also nice, pretty and protected

Rendezvous

Eastern LI Sound! Mystic, Noank, Fisher's Island etc etc. I am sure Sailing Specialties in Mystic would be interested. Many Cherubini designs in use up here. Of course every one of us wants to see it in our own backyard though! I've never been to a "rendezvous" before and I can only surmise that they're probably much more interesting if one has a boat with them. 2 birds...one stone

Why not attend the Hunter Rendezvous in Mystic next year. It's going to be at Sailing Specialties in Mystic the beginning of August.

Mystic Sounds Good

Teaming the Cherubini yachts with an existing Hunter rendezvous sounds like a good Idea. But if not, anywhere on the northeast shoreline from the Connecticut River to Nantucket is my vote. Loads of neat places -- Essex, Mystic, Montauk, Block Island, Newport, Cuttyhunk, Hadley's Harbor, the Vineyard, etc., etc.

Hunter/Cherubini

Great Idea. I'm planning to attend the Hunter rendezvous in Mystic in August. Since I will be traveling from the Chesapeake any of the mentioned locations would be great. The suggestion about combining the Hunter rendezvous in Mystic with the suggested Cherubini one is worth considering.
