non-skid discoloration

I have a 1998 Hunter 410, bought new in 1999. I have noticed what appear to be brush marks on the grey non-skid (The horizontal surfaces). At first I could only see them on cloudy days (last season). This season they appear lighter in color and are visible all of the time. Hunter tells me the grey gel coat is brushed on to the mold, and that I should use a car wax at the end of the season to "blend" the area. The lighter parts appear to be fadded. Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, what was the solution? Thanks in advance.

Hunter Paid for Repaint

FYI: Discoloration was so bad on the non- skid of a 1993 33.5 in our area that Hunter paid the local dealer to repaint. It looks great now! Good luck! rb

Same discoloration problem

I have the same problem on the gray nonskid surface. It looks like the gray color was "bleached" with a cleaner. The gray is faded and streaked. I am not going to wax my nonskid suface, it seems to defeat the purpose of the nonskid. Does anyone else have this problem and what have you done to address it?

non skid discoloration

I have tried something since I originally wrote the question. Penetrol wiped on and immediately off seems to do the job. I am not sure what the long term result will be but it looks nice for now. You need to make sure the deck is cleaned prior to applying.
