I recently purchased a 1985 Catalina 30. I love it, but we have to motor up a long channel to get to the Bay and my wife and 7 year old are complaining about the noise. I have looked at Soundown and Defender Soundproofing kits. Two questions- is the lead-lined material much bettr than what appears to be non-lead material that Defender carries? Also, space in the engine compartment is quite tight, so is there room for the 1" sound barrier material or are you limited to the 1/2" material? Thanks for your advice. David S/V Windsong II
