Noise and leak coming from my CNG tank

I recently changed out my CNG tank. The new tank appears to be leaking while turned on. Additionally, while turned on I hear a clicking or pinging noise coming from the cylinder. When turned off the noise and the gas smell both stop. I disconnected and reconnected, but the same noise and leak exist. I have never had an issue with the system, it appears to be a tank issue. Has anyone experianced this? I will be changing the tank out this week to see if it resolves the problem.

There might be a small, nearly invisible crack in your lines. The new tank's nozzle fitting may have held a small tolerance difference to produce a high-spot just different enough to put stress on & crack a weak spot on the coupling. No matter what, get that tank outta the hull! For the cost of the lines, I'd swap out the connector fitting and the line to the PRV. Unless you feel absolutely qualified to swap these components, paying the yard to do it is appropriate.

Replacing the tank and its valve and coupler should resolve the issue if you get a good one. Never liked the replacing tank programs and with the scarcity of CNG tanks I would be more weary.

I had exactly the same thing happen on my last tank. Unfortunately, I was a long way from anywhere when it happened. I attached my spare and noticed a leak. It came from the valve stem. Oh well. they replaced the tank with another when I got back Sure am glad I had the BBQ!
