Roger, That is a good deal on that puck. How is the software for street nav? I have a magellan crossover that is overwhelmingly upsetting. When I get near the coast, there are no roads on the map. I would like to just use my lap top for nav in the car. Most of the time I don't need directions, I just need a map! And that piece of crap provides neither. Hopefully I can at least use it to pick up a gps signal for my laptop. I want to download seaclear tonight and start playing with it.

How is the software for street nav?
I've always heard good things about DeLorme and Barbara uses Street Atlas and likes it. I've just looked at it briefly and my initial impression is that it is very confusing and non-intuitive. It doesn't have an obvious button that shifts the location and map to the GPS coordinate for example. I'm fairly sure though that this is just a function of having a lot of features and being oriented towards a different kind of navigation. Once I look at the manual and find a couple of things, I expect I'll like it. There are clear buttons for entering starting and destination addresses which is the operation it is primarily intended for.

The LT-40 puck got a fix in about 10 seconds right out of the box so it's a step up in performance from the earlier one that took a couple minutes.
