The entrance to Tolchester Marina on the Chesapeake Bay (Eastern shore). This is north of Rock Hall, across and north-east from Baltimore, MD and south of the Middle River. Debris field is a result of the flooding in Pa. Its conjecture if the timber came from the banks of the bay by raising the water levels or being swept over the dam at Conawingo. Looks like Fowl River, AL after Katrina

We had an almost identical situation after Hurricane Katrina. Along with the lumber, trash, reeds, etc. we also had two shrimp boats sunk in the river right in front of our house.

Any Updates?

We too have our boat at Tolchester and last Saturday the fairway, if anything, looked worse than the picture above. Since the wind direction was originally pushing the debris over to the Eastern Shore, Tolchester's entrance was literally blocked by logs and debris that came down the Susquehanna River when the flood gates were opened to release all the up river rains of the last secveral weeks. Has anyone seen the conditions at Tolchester and/or other Eastern Shore marinas more recently?

It was better this past weekend

The fairway at Tolchester Marina was better this past July 8-9 weekend but large logs remain floating in the marina, the entrance and around most boats in their slips. Allen Bramble is working hard at removing the debris. The beach remains covered at the waterline with driftwood. Most of this has been moved to a spot on the north side of the beach. Tidal flows continue to deposit my driftwood. It looks like this may continue for the next few months. We sailed Sunday in a nice 15-20 knot breeze. The water was coffee colored from the silt. Most crab traps have been removed as I only saw two strings. Driftwood seems to be more of a problem on the Eastern side rather than the Western side of the bay. Attached is a link to a news report and picture of the Dam. Ian s/v Meant to Be
