No reverse?

37 C that will not go into reverse.Neutral to forward but no reverse.Ideas?

It would be helpful to know if you have a single handle for throttle and transmission or a dual handle.

Linkage or cable would be the first things to check. Have someone move the shift handle while you are watching the engine side of the cable. Look at the mounting for the cable clamp on the transmission.

Then, disconnect the cable from the shift lever on the gearbox and move it by hand to see if the linkage is moving the lever all the way into the reverse detent.. with the engine at idle, you can do that and see if the shaft goes into reverse but be very careful to stay away from the rotating coupling .. the engine will not even struggle to break your arm if ya get a shirtsleeve caught in it!
