Hunter 36 Chicago
Today I went out on my Hunter 36. After shoving off I increased motor speed but got no propulsion. I looked at the tach and I was full throttle and the engine sounded like it should. It was a windy day and we were getting blown around but I was getting no propulsion from the prop. nothing. I put it in neutral a few minutes and tried again. this time the prop engaged and we moved forward. On reflection I realize that my reverse gear has had the same problem for the last couple of weeks.

Any thoughts on what this might be?

Starting with the simple a loose shifter cable and getting more complex a bad clutch in the transmission.

...or a ton of growth on your prop blades not allowing them to open.

Check the shaft

Well if you can put into gear and see if the shaft is turn,if you can have some one at the hem and add power while you look at the shaft and if not turning check the linkage for slipping or loose or tranny.
