No more double end main sheet

I tied off the winch end of my double ended main sheet. I did it mainly because I wanted to reconfigure my reefing lines and lazy jacks and needed the clutch and blocks of the main sheet. It seems I very very rarely use the cabin top winch to trim the main. I trim and release at the traveler.Has anyone else made this change? Did you ever regret it? Or am I missing something by not triming the main tight enough to trampoline off of?

I've done it

and am very happy with the arrangement. My Vision 32 came with a 3-1 mainsheet arrangement that lead forward to the mast, down to the cabin top, and back to a sheet stopper. The friction was so great I could only trim by hand in very light winds.I replaced it with a 6-1 mainsheet with a cam cleat on the traveler. I finally removed the end coming back to the stopper and only trim by hand. I find the 6-1 gives me enough advantage that I can pretty much trim it tight in any wind conditions.If you don't have enough purchase to trim in tight in higher winds, you may want to add a few blocks. It sure makes trimming a pleasure.

You could also..

..put a 3:1 on the deadend leg and get 18:1 when you can no longer pull. And 'Yes' you do need to get that big main all the way in to flatten it.

I never use the other end of the main sheet on my 29.5. I have just purchaced at the ac boat show a 6:1 tackle for the main sheet/traveler. I am going to remove the double sided sheet. I dont think I will miss it.The 29.5 boom and main sail are large and the 3:1 arrangement is very poor.
