No More Combi - I've Had It!

Hello, All:

As you might guess, I am fed up with my Combi Drive. I believe my MD6A is
good and strong, but I cannot get the Combi to work correctly.

I plan to nurse it through this summer season, then replace it with a
conventional system. I am looking for whatever "words of wisdom" anybody and
everybody may have to offer on this changeover: What to replace it with, Where to
get it, How much will it cost, New- or Used, etc. Once replaced, I will have a
shaft, prop and gearbox for somebody that is continuing with the Combi system. Is anybody interested in exchanging, with my Combi system as partial
payment?

Most Sincerely, Ed Davis, Mystic, CT....aka....saylered@...[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Hi Ed

The best answer is the complete Beta system. We have now installed nearly seventy in Vegas in the last three years. Full instructions, photos etc. Easy job, about two/three days and not rocket science. Sent engines to USA, Israel, Europe and no problems yet!! Price is good and all problems have been sorted. Just sending one out to Galveston in the next two/three weeks.

Kind Regards

Hi Brian

Dont know in Canadian Dollars but the one to the USA with complete kit (prop, shaft, control lever, cables etc) is about $5000 US.

Price in the UK is £3100 but that includes VAT (17.5% Tax).

Kind Regards

Hi Brian;

why can't you get just a gearbox for your (existing) engine. (I thought
I read
your engine is still ok)

If you can attach a gearbox (with correct gear-ratio), then all you need
is a 25 mm
shaft and a prop (and use the existing stuffing box and stern bearing).

Hi Brian;

I'm sorry to say I can't help you with this. I also used to have a 021
engine, but replaced it
a few years back with a Yanmar Diesel. (and also used a 25 mm shaft with
the existing stuffing
box and stern bearing- works great!)

I can only guess there must be a gearbox for a 021 engine available- but
if you go that route,
be sure to use the correct gear ratio. (and prop- I now use a 3-blade).
