I have a universal 5411 diesel. It does not have a fuel shut off. I rev the engine then pull back hard to shut it off. This does not always work. The keyed ignition doesn't do the the trick either. Everything is original on the boat...so I'm told. Am I doing something wrong? or do I need to add a fuel shut off?

Paul, I don't get it. What do you mean exactly? Are you saying that there is no conventional means of turning your engine off?? -Ben

Fuel Shut off

I have a O'Day 28 with the same engine. My engine stops by closing the throttle my quess is that you need to adjust your throttle cable to allow it to shut off the fuel. Good luck

I've Got it!!!

My engine stops by turning off the key- the key works a solenoid that works the fuel cut-off. But why didn't they manufacture tham all the same way?

Bad solenoid?

Have you checked to see that there isn't a shutoff? If there is, perhaps the solenoid went and needs replacement.
