GPS: Raytheon RC520 Chartplotter Radar: Raytheon RL70 I'm getting "NO FIX" whenever I fire it up. Thing is it was working a few weeks ago... if anyone has some tips for diagnosing the problem or a local repair tech they could recommend in the San Diego area I'd appreciate it.

Probably the Antenna

Check your diagnostics to see if you are getting any satellite fixes. I suspect it is the antenna. I sent mine to Raymarine after running through the diagnosis on their website. They reprogrammed it for me and all has been well since. Good luck: you may want to check their website for a local rep. Rick D.

Never a fix

Is the NO FIX just after tou turn it on or does it never get a fix?

Yea, and the diagnostics aren't showing any satellites. Did you send in the receiver and the Display/Interface?

Just The Antenna, Jack....

As I recall, if there is no signal to the display, and if you have verified good voltage to both it and the antenna, it's the antenna. I assume yours is a not a NEMA connection, but rather a Seatalk connection from the antenna to the display. RD

Just a Thought

If you know which wire is the hot & ground you might test it or by pass it with a tempoary hot & ground. I say this because a low voltage supply or drop can cause a No Fix. I noticed this on a boat that I was on, when you talked on the VHF the gps would loose signal NO FIX. Later I read that GPS needs its own circuit to in sure no power drop which is what had been happening to the GPS. If you have a hot or ground going bad it could be creating a power problem of the unit. Just maybe a place to start.
