No Bow Chocks

Yesterday I put our new 309 on the mooring for the first time and was unsure how to run the mooring lines since there are no bow chocks in which to run the line through. Currently I have the line running from the cleat and between the anchor roller and forward pulpit stanchion. I guess the other options would be to use the anchor roller or run the line between the first and second stanchion. I'm concerned about chaffing of the fiberglass and rub rail. Any suggestions? Has anyone mounted chocks on their boat, and, if so how did they fasten the chock?

Thanks,

For what it's worth, I use the (factory-installed) pair of cleats located on either side of the bow, where chocks would otherwise be placed. The two mooring lines are looped directly onto the chocks.

That creates a pair of straight lines direct from the edge of the bow to the underside of the mooring ball. No chocks. Therefore no chafe.

Couldn't tell from pix on Catalina's Web site how the 309 is set up. But the system on my C 25 works well.
