I am trying to connect my Raymarine RC435 Chartplotter to my Icom IC-M422 VHF radio. Neither instruction book gives any advice about what kind of wiring to use. I will need to make a run of about 30 feet because the chartplotter is in the cockpit and the radio is in my nav station. One dock neighbor said I needed to use "twisted signal wire." Is that true?

I believe that should do. give it a try. just lay along the companionway and saloon. can the dsc be tested?

You could use some CAT 5 ethernet cable (stranded).
It's all twisted pairs.

Am I correct in saying that all you need is TX DATA and SIGNAL GROUND?

If so, I'd probably use some sheilded audio cable.
Belden 8451 for example.

Re: Cat V

Thanks for the advice. You are correct all I need is ground and GPS out on the chartplotter to GPS in on the radio.
