In a couple of weeks I am planning a trip north to St. Augustine on the I.C.W. on my H-23. Don't know how much wind I will have and may have to motor most of the way. Has anyone had any experience with a Nissan 5hp two stroke? It's a brand new 2001. Is it reliable enough for 10-12 hours of nearly continous service? Thanks.

Dave, You Should Be Fine

I believe that Nissan is a rebadged Tohatsu as are many others. I have had two of the smaller models for years, and they are great. Lots of racers use them for pushers on light boats in the 20-30 foot range, and commonly use them to push back up the coast for a dozen or more hours. I lent my 2.5 long shaft to a friend with a broken OB on his O'Day 27. It pushed that boat 50 miles at 4.5 knots without objection. RD
