TANKS

I have a Nissan 5hp 4 stroke that came with the boat. It has a 3 gallon tank that lasts almost all summer. The mechanic told me to burn Amoco hi test only and let the motor run dry after being out for a day. Makes it easier to start. Check with West marine. They carry the Nissan line and may be some help.

Gravity

Cliff, I just had this discussion with a neighbor. You need to consult someone who knows your engine. Some of the "built in" tanks utilize gravity to feed the fuel to the carburetor. The "remote tank" fed motors may have a small fuel pump. In any case, check it out before you go out and try to convert it on your own! I have had good success with online information with Tohatsu outboards, you may find the answer online if you use a good search engine like "google" and enter your engine's name(use link below). good luck, Mike D.

IF you have a Tohatsu dealer in your area, he can help as the Nissan engines are built by Tohatsu and the only difference to the motors is the color, striping and name on the engines. If you have any difficulty not finding the information, get back and I will call the supplier for the engines here in the US to answer your question Crazy Dave Condon
