The replicas of the Columbus ships are going to be at Legendary Marine in Ft.Walton Beach, Fl. on March 25, 26 and 27, then head out for Naples. I am trying to put together some boats to buddy boat across and sail along with them. At this time there is interest from three other boats, and if my back doesn't get out of whack again, I will go. Also I know one retired gentleman who has a 39' steel hull boat that is wanting crew to join up with him for the trip. Anyone interested in joining up, drop me a line. Should be a fun and interesting few days, and weather this time of year should be decent.

Out of curiosity, how are they getting under the bridges?

Are the masts that short? bridge height around Destin is around 54-55 feet??

I don't think the masts are any taller than about 45-48 feet.. ??

The Nina came here last year and tied up downtown.. Neat !

Be sure to keep us all posted. Are any of you concerned about the rising cost of gas. Here it is $3.39 (starting price) and going up and the farther you go South the more exspensive it gets. I shudder to think how much diesel is.

We just took a trip to the West Coast of Florida and the price of gasoline was even higher.
Cost us $200.00 in the RV.

We took a tour of them whilst they were in Biloxi on Jan.1. It would really be cool to sail alongside them to Naples. Wish I could. Have fun boys.

dang --you guys have it easy with gas prices--is 4.00/gal for 87 octane in kali/sd at this time, at the discount stations. diesel is right up there with the gas.
nice n easy--you may want to post this in seaknots and sailmonster, as those nice folks in florida just may like to join ye--i will be finalizing prep for a trip from sd to mazatlan, then points south.

Hard to believe, but true. My neighbor across the street crewed for them last summer for three months, so I have it first hand.
