The best time I sailed at Smith Mt. Lake was at night with the stars out particualy when the Shuttles were flying not to mention the shooting stars which was a major part of the company logo. Sold many boats when taking customers out for a night sail.
Once it was snowing about 2 a.m. when a blue light special came on and over to the boat. The game wardens were asking why I was out there and I said the same question but the spreader lights did show the billowing sail with the snow flake flying thru it. New warden did not have a real jacket on and was cold. took the sails down, loaned him a warm jacket, offered them some hot coffee and we enjoyed the evening together for a while raffed up of course. We figured no one else was out in a blizzard on the lake and became good friends after that. After that they left the sailboats alone except for me when I would call on the channel and if they were around they came.
