I am planning to install solar powered venting on Easy Wind. I have
heard nothing but good things about the Nicro units. Installation
appears straight forward.

The manufacturer recommends 1 complete air change per hour to control
mold, mildew and mustiness. Using Nicro's formula (0.7 x interior
length x beam x average height) I estimate that the interior volume of the
343 is about 1200 cf +/-. The 3" Nicro model moves about 700 cubic
feet per hour; therefore 2 units should provide more than adequate
circulation.

I have seen boats on my dock with these units installed
either on the deck or on a hatch. To be symmetrical I would put a fan
on each of the opening Lewmar hatches in the salon; however, I am not
completely sold on the whole hatch mounting idea. Although it is easier, and way
less stressful than drilling 2 holes each 3-3/4" in diameter through
the coach roof, it seems that the 9" diameter fan will block a lot of light.

Has anyone installed these units and, if so, where did
you out them?

Thanks.

I have one

I installed one on the forward hatch of my 281 and it doesn't seem to block too much light. If I had installed one on both of my forward hatches, it may have made some difference though. Drilling that large hole was not real easy, the lexan or whatever it is that the hatches are made of is pretty thick and I used a large hole saw in a drill. It takes a pretty powerful drill and the teeth of the hole saw bind up if you drill too fast. I've been pleased with the vent and the Nicro folks service.
