Nicorvent Locations

I want to add a Nicor solar vent to our 29.5 . I would like to know what locations other 29.5 owners have used and what they like/don't like about said locations.

Hatch

I have a 35, and put a Nicro in the hatch. I figured if something went wrong it would be a lot easier to replace the hatch that fill a hole in the deck. Works great, really retards mildew growth. If you are going to do it yourself, save yourself a lot of aggravation and buy the 4" (or whatever the diameter is) hole drill rather than trying to cut a hole with a sabre saw.

Why not use one of your two vent openings?

You could leave the cowl on the other opening. That way there are no new holes in the boat. If you pick another spot in the hull, you'd have to go through the hull and the solid topliner. Another option would be to put it on one of the hatchboards and leave the cowls open. I would probably go the hatchboard route if I were doing it.

Vent Location

I put a Nicor vent in the foward hatch of out H31 and cut the hole with a saber saw. Not a perfect circle but what the heck -- the vent covers it and works great.
