Took this article from SweetwaterCruising. We had a perfect long weekend last weekend, warm sunny, low winds ( at least perfect for powerboaters), which meant tons of boaters out on the water.... most of the anchorages were jammed full...

The following message from Luke Razauskas, Commanding Officer, Coast Guard Search and Rescue Station, Meaford, was circulated today in local media:
“The commanding officer and crew at the Canadian Coast Guard search-and-rescue station in Meaford, the Inshore Rescue Team located on Brébeuf Island, and volunteer Coast Guard members would like to thank boaters in Southern Georgian Bay for practising safety on the water this past weekend.
“The perfect boating weather brought thousands of vessels out of all the harbours and communities, from Lions Head to Midland to Parry Sound. Remarkably, not a single fire, sinking, injury or fatality was reported on the waters of Southern Georgian Bay this long weekend.
“The Coast Guard would like to thank and congratulate all the boaters who made safety a priority on this final long weekend of our 2009 boating season.
“I feel that congratulating boaters far and wide on a job well done in regard to their attention to safety this weekend may go a long way in promoting boating safety for next year.”

No, we have the May 2-4 long weekend, July 1st long weekend, Aug.1st long weekend and Sept. 1st long weekend, then Thanksgiving Oct 15 +/-. This one was the first without ANY fatalities on the water, good to see.
