Found these at Lowes. They fit perfectly. They rise above the deck floor, so debris can't block the openings so easily.

Found them in the sink hardware aisle.

My originals are a little tired looking. I had to glue them to make them stay put. I may pick a couple of those up and replace mine on my next weekend trip. I find the project aspect almost as enjoyable as the sailing or just camping out. Its all good on the boat. I always said if I had a boat I'd name it therapy. It sure seems to fit.

The packaging says they are 7/8" high, and probably stick up almost 1/2" above floor level. My only concern would be someone [like me for example] kicking or stepping on them.

Great fix Andrew!! Although my boat lives on her trailer and has the transom mounted scuppers, twice now I've visited older C22's in marinas that look like they're sitting kind of "funny" in their slip, only to walk up on them and find the scuppers so clogged up with debris that the cockpit is full of water. On at least one of them, the water was lapping over the companionway bridge and into the cabin. You hate to just walk away from something like that and I completely drained the battery on my portable bilge pump one morning trying to pump out a fellow's cockpit, only to be told by another marina guy not bother: the owner of that boat had been told repeatedly about the problem but hadn't bothered to come by and check it out.

I think that is part of the beauty, You would need 1/2 inch of debris before they began to clog. But, I'd probably kick them too...

Well, my wife mounted them by just sticking them down with butyl rubber tape, so, if some one kicks 'em... you just stick it back down! Man, she LOVES that tape!

One other thing, I don't think those measurements on the package are right. There were two packages with the same product at lowes, one saide 1 7/8" wide, and the other is the one in the picture. Same strainer, different package. Oy! Maybe I should measure them, so I can tell you the actual size!

Also, backflushing the scupper hoses works great. Disconnect the starboard line from beneath the cockpit floor, tilt it toward the bottom, maybe into a bucket. Open the thru-hull valves, and all that crap blocking the hoses will flow out into the bucket. Close the valve, reconnect the hose.

I worked on the boat yesterday, bedding-in new cleats obove the cockpit for my lines-led-aft project. I didn't kick the scuppers even one time! They did their job too, as heavy rain fell here Tuesday night, and all the boats in the marina are littered with seed pods from Oaks and Maples. The pods had clogged the bottom of the scuppers, but my cockpit was dry! Yay!

Those are flat, right? Those won't be an upgrade from the originals. Nice price though! And the fact that they fit makes me wonder if Catalina got their hardware from Lowes! Just kidding.

Anyway, the column shaped strainers I used will allow your scupper strainers to keep draining even when enough debris to clog the flat strainers gets in the way.
