You need to add an NX2 server. Its a box that allows NMEA devices (like your GPS) to interface with the nexus network.

thank you very much for your input.

my Garmin GPS has two data out. (Data out 1 Blue and Data out 2 Violet)

i understood the following:

1. i should connect the Data out 1 Blue to Port 10 and Data out 2 Violet to Port 11.

2. i have to keep the transducers connected to the WSI-Box.

3. i only have to buy the NX2 server and Nexus Network cable to connect the NX2 server to the NX wind pack

where should i connect the Nexus Network cable that coming from the NX2 server? should i connect it to the WSI-Box or to the Wind instrument?

Thank you very much.

1) No, connect that to Input A (10) and Ground (12)

2) For NX stuff, I think that's right. The NX2 stuff can grab transducer data off the net but I think the NX need to be direct connected.

3) Pretty sure nothing else

The instruments are designed to be daisy chained. The NX2 needs to be on one end as it only has one connection.

Sorry,
I had to go find a actual Garmin cable. Happily one was sitting in my desk! Don't ask why.

I thought the two you mentioned were the data/ground pair. Nope. SO,

GARMIN NX2
-----------------------------------
BLUE port 1 out <=> 10 Input A
BLACK ground <=> 11 Input B (ground)

You only need one data set connected out, devices often have two because NMEA 0831 is not a true network, you can only have one talker per segment.

Extra credit, connect

YELLOW port 1 in <=> 3 Output A
BLACK <=> 4 Output B (ground)

If you do this and rig up a MOB button to the NX2 (easy), the Garmin will generate a MOB waypoint and go into MOB mode when the button is pressed!

You will have to jumper the black Garmin ground wire to go to several places. On the NX2 the 2nd data lines are actually ground, the same ground as the power uses. Jumper them all together.

the below from NX2 server manual:

Connect NMEA out signal from the NMEA instrument to Server pin 10 (INPUT A).
Connect NMEA return signal from the NMEA instrument to Server pin 11 (INPUT B).

Note c: If the NMEA instrument has only one output cable, put a ”bridge” cable on the Server between pins 11 (INPUT B) and 12 (0V GND).

I think you answered your own question! ;^)

In NX2 parlance NMEA Input B is actually ground. It is per the NMEA0813 spec. And ground is ground. So you can do like I said (tie them together) or what the manual states, jumper between them on the input pins. Its the same thing.
