Has anyone had experiance with the Nexus Instrument system. I installed a system on my Cal 33 two years ago and have had problems with the depth meter ever since. I have tried contacting Nexus but it seems they have changed owners and are now under a new name. Anyone know haw to contact Nexus???? The depth meter was the main reason I purchased the system. The wind direction/speed and knot meter work great. The depth meter varies from 0 to 300 ft in the 10-12 ft waters fo Galvaston bay. Any help is appreciated.

ComNav Marine

ComNav purchased the rights to Nexus. See Related Link. Now the instruments, made by Silva in Sweden, are called NX2. I think they are compatible with the Nexus computer and vice versa. Do you by chance still have your old depth finder working? And are the two transducers in proximity? I have my old Signet transducer still functioning and the Nexus transducer mounted less than ten inches from it. I cannot have them both turned on at the same time.

Nexus Depth problems

The only system I have on board is the Nexus. I thought the inverter was causing the interference but I still have the problem when the inverter is off.

How is it mounted??

Ron, I'm reasonably familiar with Galveston bay and I just don't think there are too many 300 ft. holes out there. Some questions for you.(a)Do you have your sending unit inside the hull or thru-hull? (b) If the transducer is mounted thr-hull, where and how is it mounted? Give us some more info. Thanks Don

Nexus depth problems

The transducer is mounted forward of the keel about two feet and on the centerline of the boat. The transducer mounts in a thru hull supplied by Nexus when I purchased the system. I tried to e-mail ComNav as it seems they are the new owners/operators of Nexus but he e-mail bounced back saying the mail box is full. I guess they don't read their e-mail.

Transducer location.

Seems that your transducer is in the same place as mine, in the center v-berth locker. I assume you have been down in there to check. There is nothing piled on that might affect it? Where is your fluxgate in relation to the depth transducer? That really ticks me off about their e-mail. How do these companies stay in business? I know, they don't. I would call them collect.

Ed: The transducer is just aft of the v-berth. It has a access plate in the foor so you can get to it. Nothing near it at all. The fluxgate units are all aft of the mast. I will try to call when I get a chance during normal working hours. It's hard to contact some of these businesses after work as they dont have anyone on staff after normal working hours. Ron

Contact Jon at the JRJ Group, they are the US service center for Nexus, NX2 and star inst. built by Silva. This guy use to be the product manager for Nexus, before the cheeze heads at ComNav took over. His number is, 360-606-1623. Be patient, he is on vacation through the 4th.
