Newport RI to Mystic CT distance

I am trying to figure out if we will attend the Hunter get together in Mystic CT this summer. Does anyone know how far it is from Newport RI to Mystic, CT in nautical miles?We can make it from Harwichport on the Cape to Newport in one long day, or stop the first night in Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard, but I don't have charts for further south of Newport. One day sail, or two more, makes a difference since 3 days to get there or 4, 3 days back or 4, and four days in Mystic is a longer trip than I may be able to swing from work.Thanks for any info you may haveBob KnottH380S/V Serenity

Sailing time

Bob, distance to Mystic from Newport appx 35nm. Plan on using the engine for a good distance as the prevailing winds will be against you. Appx 7 hour trip. Hope this helps and hope to "sea" you there!

Second the charts for Mystic

Finding the enterance to Mystic is key. Once you are in the channel it is well marked, but has some major twists and turns.We went from Mystic to Wickford in approximatly 6 hrs. Going to Mystic you will be going right into the wind. Check the tides as they can be strong. Stay inside Fishers Island or you will have to go through the race, and depending upon the wind and tide that can be a real problem.If you don't want to go to Newport, try Stonington or Block Island.RR EggeS/V Allie Kat
