Newport 30 tiller replacement

Hey gents, I hope life is good.

I just recently bought Newport 30. Great boat for the money paid.
The original tiller was broken, and was replaced with the makeshift one by prior owner. Now I want to install the replacement tiller.
I have seen several tillers fairly cheap on defender, I am just not sure what size would be appropriate.

Since the tiller bushing is flushed with the deck(bottom of the cockpit), I want to buy tiller that has upcurve in the end- similar to this:

Still the question is what specs am I looking for when it comes to getting tiller for Newport30.

Here's how good Steve's post is: H&L Woodwork was the original supplier of the Newport 30 tillers, in fact, they supplied ALL the woodwork for Capital Yachts, builders of the Newport line.

Unless you are specifically restoring your boat to the original configuration, don't be a slave to the "original" design (assuming you can even determine what that is). Since virtually all production boat tillers have similar stock (rudder head) dimensions, the only technically important measurement in picking a replacement tiller is length (so you can have sufficient leverage to steer your boat). The rest (curve, diameter, shape, etc.) is based on personal preference. I bought the 112F for my Oday 23 because the shape (big curve) allows me to hold the tiller comfortably and it keeps the tiller off of everyone's knees in the cockpit. This is despite the fact that the stock tiller for the Oday 23 was straight, and the 112F is designated as a "replacement" for the Coronado 25, the Catalina 25, the Ranger 26 and the Oday 27, all bigger boats than mine.
