I have a Catalinia 310 Hull 282 and last week the Fixed port on the starboard side has started leaking-really bad. After closer inspection the top has seperated from the black sealant. I have rebed the ports on my Spirit 6.5 and Cal 2-25, but these were the type that screwed into the boat-easy to rebed. The newer boats have ports that re not screwed in -the Black sealant holds them in place. Has anyone ever rebed these type of fixed ports. Any help would be great.

Portlight repair

I have rebed my skylight and portlights. I would suffer from water ingress every time we put the rail in the water sailing. I sail a Hunter 35.5 Legend. It has two Ports on the port side. To remove the ports I carefully worked a piece of music wire in thru the joint and attached a vice grip pliers on each end. with my firstmate inside we used a sawing motion and advanced around the port till it was liberated from its location. After cleaning all the old caulk off and washing it down with alcohol I taped around both sides of the joint. The product that I chose is called Boatlife caulk it claims to work under water. after applying the caulk and bedding the acrylic portlight I waited about 20 min. and removed the tape. I am very pleased with the outcome of this repair and when on a port tack my stateroom and bedding are dry as a bone. Boatlife caulk is expensive a small tube sells for about $10.00 and a Tube for a caulk gun $18.00 USD I hope this information helps. Fair Winds, Bill S/V Tumbleweed

Dow 795 is what they use on the Hunters. You may want to contact Catalina and find out what they are using.
