Newcastle Island Rendezvous

Brian,

Having never been to a boating rendezvous in my life, I'm a bit
hesitant to take on the official role as host. But I'm certainly
willing to do some preliminary footwork and we'll see where it goes
from there. I'll get back when I find out more. As to a deal at the
Dinghy Dock (for the uninitiated, this is a floating pub adjoined to
Protection Island and adjacent to Newcastle) there's a new owner who
might just be interested in doing a deal.

Garry, your [lack of] experience makes you the perfect candidate.

It's unanimous Garry...you are the official organizer, Mr.
Responsible, The Master of Ceremonies, the Grand Puba...Just relax,
get us a deal at the dock (i.e confirm space) This is were you will
need committment from the group and if you can swing a deal at the
pub then your picture will grace the newsletter.

Well I did my preminary "nosing around" re Newcastle Marine Park and
learned from the park management that BC Marine Parks do not take
reservations of any sort for moorage, whether it be an individual or
group. So I think we should look elsewhere for a site for the
Rendezvous. People seem happy in general with Port Browning. Perhaps
it should take place there again, but earlier in the summer than last
year.

Port Browning has proven to be a good place for us, always fun and the folks there have been very hospitable. The Lopez Islander was good too. Laura and I still remember the terrific breakfast they served at that place down the road and, of course, who could forget the crab? It's also nice, for those that can't sail in, that there is seaplane service right at the marina. OTOH the Canadian contingent didn't seem to care for Lopez; only Brian showed up for the event we had there. There is still plenty of time to look around and decide.

Aloha,

Lopez Island would be easiest for me but any where there are Vega's,
water and beer is cool with me.
