I hope I am in the right place. I have recently put a bid in on a 1980 Hunter 36. I was hoping any owners of similar boats could give me a heads up on what to look for once I have the boat. I was not able to have the boat surveyed because the boat was involved in a Bankruptcy and going for significantly less than market.

On insepction, the boat did appear to have been well maintained and since it is in the frigid north, only used approximately 6 months of the year. Engine was suppose to have less than 1000 hours and maintenance done on it annually. I saw no obvious stress cracks or keel damage. Boat in on the hard on Jack stands outside but covered.

Any help would be greatfully received.

Thanks,

Tom...;)

No help with the 36 but I'll extend a welcome. Great place for sailing knowledge, regardless of experience or model/make ownership. Good people!

Welcome aboard Tom, you have found a great site for information about your boat. You should begin by clicking on "Boat Info" at the top of the page. In "Hunter Boat Info" you will find Owner Reviews and other information for the "36_80-82". There is not much for the 36 in "Hunter Owner Modifications". But your boat is very similar to my H37C. Under "37-Cutter" you will find lots of photo projects. The other Cherubini sizes like the 30 and 33 can also be helpful. Then there is the "Search" tab above for specific questions. Finally, just ask away. Notice that there is "The Cherubini Hunters" under the "Hunter Owners Forums".

Hi Tom,
I'm based out of Lake Pepin as well. Dan's Pepin Marina. I live in Rochester, so all the marinas are about the same distance from my home. Let me know if I can assist you in any way.

Welcome to the forums.

Hey Tom, Welcome Aboard. I'm here for the same reason as you. Maybe we can stump these guys with our newbie questions! Merry Christmas, and enjoy your boat in the new year!
