It's a little later than I planned, but the installation has got me excited! Stepping up from the 1GM, I am having a 2YM15 installed. The footprint of the mounting bolts is just 2 inches longer with the same width as my original installation. However, the new mounts are slightly longer than the old mounts. Starting from the shaft coupling, the rear mounts pretty much went in where the original ones went, and the front mounts had to be moved forward. We had just enough room on the mounting stringers!
The water pump projects forward so I will have to re-build the front of the enclosure and probably cut out and rebuild the back side of the companionway stairs. I'll probably lose the storage that I had underneath a lid on the top stair due to the space reduction. Also the alternator belt projects over toward the sink a lot more than before, so my waste compartment is also going to be diminished. We also had to cut out a notch in the rear bulkhead to fit the U-shaped mixing elbow.
The upside is more power! ... Freshwater cooled, heat exchange for hot water plumbing ... smoother running, quieter, and peace of mind for reliability. I'm thoroughly going to enjoy this new improvement! An 85 Amp alternator is Yanmar's upgrade for this model this year.
I know many would question my sanity for investing a new power plant in the old boat when the old powerplant was repairable, but I'm sure I'll find it worthwhile in the long run.

Final exhaust installation is currently waiting on my new fuel tank installation, which should go in first. That will have to wait till Friday's delivery.
