I am going to replace the four large plexiglass windows on my 1989 C-30. All are faded and crazed, and sometime in its past life, one was replaced with a different color. I was going to replace with lexan, but a knowledgeable boater said I should use plexiglass because it is more resistant to UV deterioration--Comments? Also, any reccomendations on the sealant. Without any more information, I will probably use a good grade of silicone sealant. Thanks in Advance

Call Catalina..
I don't understand why more people don't think of calling Catalina to get parts. They are great to deal with and the prices are very reasonable. You could also ask which sealant they use. Silicone does not "adhere" well so the last thing I would do would be to use it to "glue" in a port. I've ordered many parts through Catalina and I know they can make up the windows as well. Give em a call it doesn't hurt...!!!

I just purchased some Polycarbonate from a plastic store. I told them I wanted Dark Smoked Lexan. Well, Lexan is a the name of GE's polycarbonate. Lexan only comes in clear. I was shipped smoked Polycarbonate. It is light grey. It's the same color as car windows. Polycarbonate doesn't come in dark smoked. You will probably want to use acrylic, which is Plexiglass. I strongly recommend that you call the factory or take a sample to the plastic dealer and match it right there. Don't take anybody's word that it is dark anything. I'm out $200.00 and not happy about it at all. My fault. I called the factory and they sent me to a factory in California, but I couldn't get through. I bought a keel cable and a turning ball for my C25 from the factory. It was cheaper than anybody else had it and it shipped faster! I would not use silicone.

try Novus on them. I used Novus on my hatches and restored them to almost new condition. It got out all but deep scratches. It is worth a try, of course you still want to replace the one odd one. I'm sure there are other like products out there. My son-in-law bought the 3 step Novus kit for the scratched headlight on his car. The kit was about $15, better than a $250 headlight. Bottle 1 is a coarse grit, bottle 2 is a fine grit and 3 is more or less a cleaner/defogger.
